Bar Stools

They are finally done!

I decided to use spray primer. It worked great. 3 cans at $4.98 was well worth it. 3 cans covered 7 stools.

I used a brush and semi-gloss paint for the final coat of white.

I made stencils of the numbers out of paper and cut them out with an x-acto knife. They bled under the edges a little, but my wonderful niece came and touched up with a detail brush.

Organization

I used to keep all of our meds, band aids, ace bandages, vitamins, etc.. in a lovely basket that looked great on  a shelf.
However, whenever you needed anything you had to dig through the basket in order to find anything. If you are a 9 year old boy, a 15 year old girl, a 12 year old girl, or lets face it a 36 year old mom, you never put anything back in the basket when you are done. The shelf beside the basket just ends up covered in vitamins, band aids, meds, etc.... 
  Well, my wonderful Mother taught me a great trick!

This is a clear plastic shoe holder from Walmart. It cost $5.98 (I think). Everything is organized by type, with the most dangerous at the top out of reach of small hands.

And here is the outside of the closet!

I know that its not as pretty as a basket, but its sure  a whole lot more functional. These shoe racks can be used for art supplies, craft stuff, spices, pantry items, and or course shoes!

Well, we start our first class tonight! We are very excited!

We also went out yesterday and got a lot of the home improvement stuff we would need to get the house in shape. We decided that going room by room would be the easiest plan.  We are starting in the kitchen and hall way. We have to finish the trim, switch out old sockets and outlet covers, put down thresh holds where the wood meets the kitchen floors, and paint the bar stools (finally)!

Yes, we moved in a year and a half ago and just sort of quit on the detail stuff. We were going to get there eventually......
