Art Beneath Your Feet

While looking for ideas for a friend who wants to paint her floors, I came across some amazing ideas. I thought I would share them with you.

Banded Roman Shades

I am a very claustrophobic person! Looking out my window through blinds makes me feel like I'm in prison. I have been working my way around the house replacing all blinds with either roman shades or curtain panels. While I have always been attracted to banded romans shades, I have yet to make any for my house. I love their clean lines and symmetry, but I usually end up with plain white denim. I know I love it and I won't get tired of it. Well, I decided that it was Elijah's room's turn for some love. (partly because his shades are disintegrating before my eyes.)

I only have one done, but here is what it looks like..

The only thing that could possibly be better than white denim, is white denim with a band of gray!

Sorry, the lighting is terrible.

Now, I just have to finish the other one...

Grocery Shopping!

I really don't mind grocery shopping. However, by the 3rd store I am about over it. I usually go to Sam's Club for the veggies, meat, and cheese; Walmart for all the miscellaneous stuff; and Trader Joe's for all the milk, eggs, chips, and gluten free stuff. I have tried narrowing it down to 2 stores, but it just doesn't seem to work. There is always some crucial  ingredient that I can't get.

After spending a small fortune on food, I feel the need to decorate with it! I know that sounds stupid, but if I can use some of the fruit and veggies to make the kitchen look beautiful....... One of my favorite (although somewhat silly) things is my egg bowl. It decorates the inside of my refrigerator. I take all the eggs out of the carton and put them in a lovely white bowl. The bowl looks much better on the shelf than 4 egg cartons. (You also don't have to wonder which carton has been opened.)

Ok, maybe I will buy some Eucalyptus (one of my other great loves.) at Trader Joe's. We are having company this weekend after all, and there are only so  many times you can open the fridge, point and smile!

Have a great Friday!

Running

I am signed up to run an 8K in March. I am not sure how I let myself get talked into these things....
I really feel better when I run. My headaches are better, and I have a lot more energy. I do have to admit that running is not my favorite thing. The worst part is the 10 minutes before I get on the treadmill. Should I do this today?  I can probably skip it just once. I really am tired and not feeling well....

I know that none of you do that....

Once I am running, I am fine, but I do need a few things to keep me motivated. Here are a few of my favorite running things..

Women's Grid Excursion TR 5
My Saucony shoes. They keep my knees from hurting! Yeah! They are worth every penny.

Champion sports bra! She's wonderful!

The best water bottle ever! You can get it at Target.

I am also having a terrible time limiting my sugar intake! I love all things chocolate. So, as of today I am going to go sugar free until after the race! Yikes. I am telling everyone so that I will actually do it. I need accountability!
Have a great day, and go run! It's beautiful outside!

Sneak Peak

These are some of the fabrics that will be in our new line of baby slings! I am very excited.
We have many solids as well, but they aren't as fun to look at on a blog!
Keep watching. Our goal is April!

Happy Heart Day!

You can never have too many flowers!

A lot has been happening at my house over the last week. Quentin has been working 2nd shift so I have had him home all day! We have gotten so many projects done, and no, I haven't nagged him into helping. He has been a very willing accomplice.

I took down the pictures that were hanging in the kitchen over the stove. I love them, but I really wanted them in the living room, and I was never  totally happy with them in the kitchen.
I found this picture from High Street Market.

And this picture. I have shown it before from Pure Style Home.

Well, we combined them. The wood shelves from the first picture and the simple brackets from the second!

I love it, but I didn't "see" what I wanted until I took the old down. Try taking accessories or pictures down and reusing them in a different way in a different place. Just removing them gives you the freedom to be creative!

A special thanks to Whitney at Navy Beans for the pictures of the baby set I made. Head on over and check out her cute little boy nursery!

The closet

I still have not painted the closet or the shutters but I have done this....

We got the hardware at Southern States. For around $150.00 we have very cool closet doors. Now, on to that horrible fluorescent light!
I would love to know if any of you are still working on a room with me.

Coat Rack

For Christmas Quentin got me a box of railroad spikes!
If you know Quentin you are not surprised!  Actually.. It is exactly what I wanted. I had requested a coat rack that looked like this one.

He finished mine this week!

I love it! It holds all the big coats, and it adds much needed balance to the left side of the living room.
