Fish

About 4 months ago my kids decided they wanted fish. I informed them how expensive the tanks were, how they would have to really save their money, and how big the tanks would have to be to hold the fish they had picked out.  It really was out of the question. Well..... They prayed! RATS! Two days later I had a 55 gallon, a 33 gallon and a 10 gallon tank. All tanks had filters and everything to go with them, and they were FREE. 

I have to admit I am enjoying the fish. We have learned a ton, killed a lot of the little guys, and had a lot of fun as a family. Last week we decided it was a little much to keep up with all three tanks. We decided to combine them all into the 55 gallon tank and have on big family tank. It looks amazing! I also now have a 33 gallon tank if anyone wants its. I would love to pass on the blessing!

I have two of them. They are in the girls room right now. They have been primed for about 6 months. Time to get moving!

I took down my dead Christmas tree yesterday and put up dead sticks in its place! I really am liking this idea of using a lot of outdoor design elements inside. Large urns and twigs are popping up everywhere!

Let the baking begin! We are making a few of our favorites. Smores cupcakes from Martha Stewart. Yes, they are worth the work! And a chocolate, peanut butter cake. My sister-in-law made it for my brother-in-law's birthday and it was amazing. 

I hope mine comes out this beautiful. I may or may not show you!

I am off to brave the crowds at the grocery store.

Depository

Many weeks ago I posted before photos of our home. I have not yet posted many after photos. The hard part is keeping it clean long enough to take a picture! Here is the first room. 

The all important Bathroom!

Quentin's contribution. It came from the night deposit box of an old bank they were knocking down. He is the best trash hunter I have ever met. 

The wall color is Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware. It is one of my favorite colors. I have had it in just about every house I have ever lived in. I never get tired of it. 

The cabinet is a creamy white, and then I sanded the edges for a distressed look. We added a 4" molding to the bottom to make it look like a piece of furniture.

I stole the basket from my Mom's house. (she said I could have it.) It houses all of my makeup and hair stuff. This is the only bathroom for 5 people so storage is very important. 

 Have I  mentioned how much I love white denim? This is my favorite shower curtain ever. 

I have had it for about 10 years, and it still looks great. Except for a smalled chewed spot on the bottom from a bunny rabbit named Sneakers, but that is another story. The hole only adds character. I have not yet decided on a window treatment. The ugly mini blinds still remain for now.

I told you I loved trashed cans!

I found these iron hooks on ebay. They work great behind the door to hold towels.

Feeling Creative

I was inspired!  I love Anna Maria Horner. She has great fabric and many great sewing ideas.

This Christmas I am trying her Bo Peep Skirt from her book Seams to Me.  I just got the first one done.
